Divine Promptings and Divine Experiences

By: Dr. Christine Awah

Beloved in his vineyard, the abovementioned subject is of utmost importance and

urgency during this end time generation. This is a generation during which God

wants to reveal his glory as never before. We read and enjoy what the people of

old accomplished for God here on earth being men of like passion – Abraham,

Moses, Noah, Gideon, Philip just to name a few, we often sit and ponder and ask

the question “Why not me?” “Why not my sister?” The answer is obvious, there

is some secret that they understood very well and always applied and

experienced God’s marvelous works. This is nothing else than responding

promptly to God’s promptings.

When God called Abraham from the Ur of the Chaldeans to go to an unknown

destination in Genesis 12:1-4, by faith he got up immediately and departed as

God said. We all know about all the blessings God showered upon him to the

extent of even having a child at age 100 with his wife at 90 years of age as well.

He whose wife was considered barren became the father of many nations.

When God encountered Moses in the burning bush and sent him to go and deliver

the children of Israel from Egypt, just as he had promised Abraham, that his

descendants will be taken to captivity in Egypt but after 400 years he will deliver

them – Genesis 15:13, Moses gave some excuses but finally left for Egypt in spite

of the risk as he had killed an Egyptian and therefore be termed a wanted man in

Egypt. He experienced the power of God as the latter fulfilled his promise by

taking Abraham’s descendants out of Egypt with great wealth.

Noah also responded promptly in building an ark exactly as God instructed. By

that act of immediate obedience, he saved his whole family during the flood and

God began a new generation with him while the rest of the people died. What if

Noah doubted or delayed in building the ark. God might have prepared and used

someone else but he and his whole family would have died. Genesis 6:1-22.

In like manner after God delivered the children of Israel into the hand of Midian

for seven years because they did evil in his sight, Gideon was able to deliver them

by responding immediately to God’s prompting. Judges 6 and 7. This was one of

the occasions when God proved that he does not rely on number to defeat our

enemies.

Philip assisted the Ethiopian Eunuch to understand the word of God that he was

reading and also baptized him because he followed the Spirit’s prompting. Acts

8:26-40. Why do most of us not experience God in such dimensions today? This is not

because we are not righteous because our righteousness is in Jesus Christ who

died for the remission of our sins. Our problem is disobedience in taking prompt

actions or not acting at all when God speaks. Let’s dare to act immediately God

speaks and experience his marvelous deeds.

REMEMBER THE FOOLISHNESS OF GOD IS WISER THAN HUMAN WISDOM AND

THE WEAKNESS OF GOD IS STRONGER THAN HUMAN STRENGTH.

PRAYER:

Lord God, please have mercy upon us and deliver us from disobeying or delaying

to act on your promptings from now henceforth. Deliver us from our own

understanding and knowledge which is very limited and is foolishness to you.

Thanks for the grace to work by faith as the people of old did and experienced

your marvelous works. Amen.
