Let’s Improve Education For Our Children

Updated: Sep 14, 2022

WIN supports women and children through after school tutoring, education and by supporting affordable medical care.

WIN strategically supports children who grow up in a single-parent family, in low income neighborhoods and who may be victims of domestic violence.

We believe in serving our clients with compassion to show that it's more than how much we know, but we show women and children how much we care by our actions.

Free After School Program (ages 5-15)

After school, unsupervised kids may engage in risky behaviors, and youth access to enrichment activities is highly dependent on family income. Low-income students trail substantially behind more-affluent peers, in terms of academic achievement. This is why WIN provides a free After School Tutoring Program to ensure that these children do not lag behind. The activities children and youth engage in outside of school hours are critical to their overall development, highlighting the need for quality afterschool programs in all communities. The After School meets Monday - Thursday from 2:30PM - 5:00PM. Children receive snacks, tutoring, homework assistance and outside recreation. To register your child, please visit the Elese Tomlin Community Center at 204 Gadson Street, Groveland, FL 34736.

The GEM Summer Program (ages 5-15)

The GEM summer learning program promotes success as we target at-risk students by increasing their reading skills with assistive reading technology. The Summer Program operates Monday - Thursday from 10:00AM - 3:00PM with breakfast and lunch provided by Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Activities include Reading, Art, Crafts, Music, free Swimming Lessons, Gardening and more. The objectives and goals of the Summer Program is to:

  • Strengthen reading and comprehension

  • Improve educational leadership opportunities

  • Improve reading grade average

  • Ensure a fun and exciting summer experience

The Summer Program will prevent at-risk students from l osing academic gains, which normally occur during the summer months. We strive to improve their reading skills and prevent truancy and failure to be promoted.
